We are looking for highly motivated, talented and self-driven PhD student who wants to apply single-particle cryo-EM in combination with biochemical, pharmacological and cellular techniques to characterize taste receptors. This project aims at advancing our understanding of the molecular mechanisms underlying taste perception by studying the structure, dynamics, and function of membrane-bound taste receptors. The PhD candidate will apply single particle cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) in combination with biochemical, pharmacological, and cellular assays to characterize taste receptors. The outcome of the project will yield unprecedented molecular insight into taste perception and delineate the therapeutic and diagnostic potential of an entire family of proteins.
Application deadline is 16 October 2022.
The position is funded by a grant from the Novo Nordisk Fundation and is set to start 1st of February 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is limited to three years.
