Master thesis opportunity for KU students at Marquardt lab:

“CRISPR-dCas9 as a tool for specific loci purification”

CRISPR-Cas9 provides a powerful tool to selectively manipulate individual loci by targeting them with the help of specific single guide RNAs (sgRNAs). The CRISPR-Cas9 system can be used for other purposes in addition to genome editing. Modulating targeted loci can be achieved by fusing an enzymatically inactive version of Cas9 (dCas9) with an effector domain of interest.

Your role:

Your work will be to utilize state of the art CRISPR-dCas9 technology to develop a cutting-edge method for precise loci purification in stably transformed plants Arabidopsis thaliana. Your aim will be to design a new approach to dissect loci targeted by several sgRNAs. You will be trained in molecular plant science research using novel approaches. Your project will use different angles of existing purification techniques adapting for CRISPR/dCas9 loci purification in combination with Next Generation Sequencing.
